How is the course delivered?

You study real world language use through texts, transcripts and original writing. You’ll analyse how language reflects identity and society, supported by classroom teaching and independent coursework.

How my learning will be assessed?

A Level English Language is assessed through two exams and one coursework project. The exams explore how language creates meaning, varies across time and social groups, and how children acquire language. The coursework includes an independent language investigation and a creative writing piece with commentary. These assessments develop your critical thinking, analytical, and creative skills, preparing you for further study and diverse careers. As a linear course, all assessments are completed at the end of two years, giving you time to build your knowledge and confidence.
