Course Overview

Do you love problem-solving, thinking creatively, and bringing ideas to life with technology? The T Level in Digital Software Development is your chance to turn an interest in coding and tech into real-world skills that employers are looking for.

The Software Development pathway puts you straight into the world of designing and building software. You’ll learn how to analyse user needs, design solutions, and develop applications using programming languages and professional tools. Along the way, you’ll gain experience in working collaboratively, testing your solutions, and managing projects—just like in the tech industry. You’ll also look at the importance of ethics, cybersecurity, and privacy when creating software that people can trust.

Alongside your specialism, you’ll study the core modules that provide the foundation for all digital careers. These include problem-solving and digital tools, data analysis, programming concepts, emerging technologies like AI and IoT, digital environments, and cybersecurity. You’ll also cover the legal and regulatory side of tech, so you understand the responsibilities that come with working in the digital world.

One of the highlights of this T Level is the industry placement—at least 45 days in a real workplace. This gives you the chance to put your skills into practice, gain confidence, and make valuable contacts in the tech sector.

Equivalent to three A Levels, this course opens doors to higher apprenticeships, university degrees in computer science or software engineering, or straight into roles in development, IT, or digital project management.

If you’re ready to create the next big thing in tech, this T Level is the perfect launchpad.
