Biology Students

Nelson and Colne College (NCC) is excited to welcome prospective students and their families to its final open event of the academic year on Thursday 23 April 2026, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

This special evening offers young people in Years 7 to 11 a unique opportunity to explore their future education pathways in an environment renowned for outstanding academic achievement and student success.

As part of the East Lancashire Learning Group, NCC proudly holds the title of the number one college in the country, as confirmed by the latest Department for Education national achievement rate tables.

The college has also achieved top rankings across every key measure, including 16 to 18 achievement and A Level and vocational programme progress. This reflects the direct impact of what outstanding teaching and an exceptional learning environment can do for every student who comes through the door.

For visitors, this is more than just an open event, it’s a chance to see how NCC’s exceptional standards can help them achieve their ambitions. From A Levels and T Levels to vocational courses and apprenticeships, the college offers a wide range of pathways tailored to every aspiration.

Guests will have the opportunity to take guided tours of the campus and experience the transformative results of a multi-million-pound investment. From modern classrooms and dedicated study areas to flagship industry development hubs, every space is designed to inspire and prepare students for success. These facilities provide hands-on learning experiences that mirror the professional world, equipping students with the skills and confidence to thrive in their chosen careers.

For Year 11 students preparing for their next steps, the Application Support Zone will offer personalised guidance through the application process, ensuring they feel confident and ready to take the leap.

The event will also feature a Supporting You Zone, showcasing the extensive care and support available to learners. From health and wellbeing services to careers advice, NCC is committed to helping every student succeed both academically and personally.

Campus Principal Fionnuala Swann is encouraging prospective students and their families to make the most of this final opportunity:

“This is the last chance this academic year to attend an Open Event and experience NCC for yourself: I would urge anyone considering their next steps to take it. Whether you’re drawn to A Levels, a vocational route, or something more hands-on, we have the courses, the facilities and the team to help you achieve your goals. We’re proud to be the number one college in the country, and we can’t wait to show you what that looks like in practice.”

Attendance is free, and prospective students are encouraged to book in advance via the college website. As the final open event of the academic year, places are expected to fill quickly.
