A talented engineering apprentice from Nelson and Colne College (NCC) has secured a bronze medal at the world’s most prestigious skills competition.
Kieran Webster, 21, from Barnoldswick took part in the WorldSkills UK National finals in South Wales in November.
As a dedicated apprentice at Senior Aerospace Weston, Keiran stepped onto the national stage to proudly represent the Lancashire and Cumbria Institute of Technology (L&CIoT), a network of colleges, universities and employers. East Lancashire Learning Group (ELLG), a key member of L&CIoT, plays a vital role in this network, with training, facilities, and teaching delivered at Nelson and Colne College.
Kieran went head-to-head with some of the UK’s most talented and driven young professionals in the demanding Mechatronics discipline, which combines mechanical engineering, electronics, computer science and control systems.
Kieran’s extraordinary bronze medal achievement demonstrates exceptional technical ability and problem-solving skills, marking him as one of the nation’s rising stars in advanced manufacturing and engineering technology.

“Competing in the WorldSkills UK National Finals was an incredible experience and something I’m really proud of. The standard was extremely high, so to come away with a bronze medal means a lot to me. I’m grateful for the support I’ve received from my tutors at NCC, my employer at Senior Aerospace Weston and everyone involved in my training. The experience has really boosted my confidence and motivated me to keep pushing myself in my career.”
