“Candidates are selected on the basis of their ability to cope with and benefit from the programme. Their suitability can be demonstrated either through previous educational achievement or experience and aptitude.
Admission by prior qualification will normally require a minimum of 96 UCAS Tariff points. Typically, points can be derived from:
• One GCE A level or Vocational A level pass or equivalent
• Two AS level passes
• BTEC National Diploma/ Certificate
• Other qualifications such as Scottish Highers, Welsh Baccalaureate, Irish Leaving Certificates,
• International Baccalaureate, with the required UCAS points
• A pass in a recognised Access course
• Equivalent Scottish or Irish qualifications

Lectures introduce core concepts using examples from sports science and coaching, while seminars and workshops allow you to apply this knowledge in smaller, interactive groups.

You will gain hands-on experience in the Sports Science Laboratory, Sports Hall, and outdoor field settings, where you will use specialist equipment, testing procedures, and performance analysis techniques. These sessions are designed to mirror real-world practice, ensuring you develop both technical and coaching skills.

Research methods are embedded throughout, with opportunities to collect, analyse, and interpret data. This applied approach strengthens your ability to use evidence and statistical methods to inform professional practice in sport coaching and performance.”

Course Facilities
